Growing Food & Soil Regeneration in Small Urban Spaces
with Veritsa Vasiljevic Patocchi

A practical hands-on workshop focused on growing food sustainably in balconies, terraces, patios, and other small urban spaces.

Rooted in permaculture ethics and ecological gardening practices, this workshop introduces accessible methods for cultivating healthy plants, creating living soil, reducing waste, and transforming even the smallest spaces into productive edible gardens.

Participants learn practical skills for urban growing, including:

  • Choosing containers and preparing pots correctly

  • Understanding soil health and living ecosystems

  • Composting in the city and vermicomposting systems

  • Water-conscious irrigation methods

  • Growing herbs, vegetables, edible flowers, and small fruits in containers

  • Companion planting and natural pest balance

  • Vertical gardening solutions for limited spaces

  • Seasonal planting and urban food resilience

The workshop emphasizes low-cost, adaptable techniques that can be practised at home, even without access to land.

Participants are encouraged to reconnect with food cycles, reduce organic waste, and experience the therapeutic and ecological benefits of cultivating living systems in the city.

A simple illustrated zine or resource sheet can accompany the workshop, offering practical guidance participants can continue using at home.
